Dublin Opinion is a group blog. The contributors are people who don’t normally blog but who feel from time to time that the world wide web needs their thoughts and opinions.
The name Dublin Opinion comes from a satirical magazine of the same name. The Dublin Opinion considered itself to be the Humourous Journal of Ireland and ran continuously from 1923 to 1968. It was highly successful in its day and its political cartoons are peppered through Irish history books dealing with the 20th Century.
Frank Kelly, an Irish comic actor who cut his teeth on the Irish satirical TV show Halls Pictorial Weekly and who more recently became more widely known as Fr. Jack Hackett in the TV Sitcom Fr. Ted writes here about the magazine, which was co-founded by his father.
