Feminist Economics Workgroup - Notes from Week Three
Jan 27th, 2013 by Conor McCabe
This is very brief - really just to get it noted before I forget to do so. We had a good workshop last week. We all presented a bit of research we had done into women and the workforce in Ireland. Moving on, we took to look at five areas for the next meeting:
1. The ‘inactive’ 28 per cent. Basically, to look at breaking this down and get a clearer understanding of what official stats mean by housewives as ‘inactive’.
2. Feminization of Labour. The move towards a low-paid, casual workforce. The current treatment of women in the workforce is the future of labour.
3. Jobsbridge / Always Be Ready. The move to treat the workforce as independent contractors. The use of the language of entrepreneur for casual/no benefits/ no rights. Also, the idea that it is the role of the employed to ‘nurture’ the job, to act as a mother to the job.
4. Secondary Source Material That’s worthwhile. Names/organisations that came up were were: NERI ; Ursula Barry and Pauline Conroy ; UCD Equality Studies.
5. Hidden Economy Monitoring Group.
I’ll try to get more written next time.

Although I would regard myself as socially conservative (perhaps Catholic baggage / perhaps not) with efforts to include women in the workforce merely a very deep method to include them in the “sov” tax net.
Whats shocking is the monetary conservative forces portraying themselves as rebels without a cause.

Ganley is a obvious bald eagle looking for those sick fish floating down the river after spawning in some housing estate but the others ?
The question & answer session really fleshes out the bones on the rotting carcass that is the framed Irish thought process.
Matthews - I am a nice conservative man with a conscience ,sure is not everybody ?………….yeah right mate.
Ming - great speech but again the question & answer session exposes his limited ambition.
Taft - Again a good speech but the good quiet European comes through despite his anger
The EEC was a scam from the very start I am afraid , it did not turn bad at some specific point in time.
It is /was the market state Trojan Horse
Barrett - our BoI /BoE man / academic in Dublin
He is a extreme free banker in my opinion with him love bombing the IMF & Gordon Brown.
“You need basic economics”
Dork - we need to question this so called basic economics.
A good question comes from the audience .
“Where will the money come from ?”
Money can come from anywhere , including the state which remains in debt to private & central banks ………..its a token dummies.
There ain’t many females that get that last bit. The appellation of a ‘job description’ transforms these into quite blinkered soldiers.
A major question should be, (as above); who is doing the paying (’cos it is them that calls the tune). The H.R. Departments of the major companies should be kept in sight. The ‘public sector’ H.R. are equally as bad; and add that to unions; and you have extremely confident (and blinkered) females ….
