I agree with the first commentator, but wish to add this; Again, this is about money, the cruelty, criminality and outright conspiracy involved means nothing to the people involved in this inhumane and gruesome 'trade'. The meat industry has always been a corrupt and cruel entity. Meat factory workers are paid €8.60 an hour, not much room for care and welfare there, the workers are not valued so don't expect the animals to be valued-until they are worth something; dead on the butchers hook! Either give up meat or kill your own, at least then you know where it comes from and that it died quickly and without fear.

How nihilistic and gruesomly deadly is that. That without a doff of thought to life, they are dispatched.
Mostly though, with regard to farm animals, the farmers in this country are very, very good; and really do care that they are looked after properly. But the extremely? high cost of veterinary care in this country is a subject that is almost never broached. There maybe should be some stratified grades of veterinary practice? or that some of the incredible amounts of unemployed males in this country (and in 'the' country) can complete a very good 'diploma' course, that would qualify them to assess and even treat farm animals up to some degree; as the vets nowadays are far too expensive and are always too busy. (a cartel?).
When Jewish people slaughter animals, is a prayer said? I hope so.
