I’ve just watched the pictures of the demonstration outside the Dail and the interview with Clare Daly on channel 4 news I have to say that I don’t accept it is simply a question of political cowardice that the X case hasn’t been legislated for but whatever the reason this is surely the opportunity, caused by a real personal tragedy, to create a campaign that will compel legislation that will advance the rights of women. The ‘catholic country’ should be exposed for the sectarian and reactionary state that it is.
