Many thanks for posting this, really appreciate it - w
I’ve just read John Cassidy’s How Markets Fail, which deals with shadow banking in its latter half. Cassidy’s book is excellent but he focuses on the USA. Thanks are due to Conor McCabe for putting Ireland’s shadow banking on the table.
Thanks Justin. John Cassidy’s book is great and was a real help to me in trying to understand the shadow banking system. He’s a great writer, really clear without dumbing-down.
Exactly. Monthly Review wrote a favourable review so I had to get it.
Fintan O’ Toole on white collar crime fighting in Ireland:
“…what we have is the continuation of a beast called the Corporate Law Review Group. This is a statutory body, made up of fine and worthy people with considerable expertise and undoubted integrity, most of them from the legal and corporate worlds. And it is a long-running disaster.
The CLRG is headed by Thomas Courtney, a corporate lawyer with the ubiquitous Arthur Cox legal firm.”
Teeny weenie conflict of interest there perhaps?
