Can I make a prediction. As things get worse, there will be pressure to form one. This budget while awful is only the first of a few. Noonan went for fairly easy targets and even then had to backtrack. It will be worse in the Autumn. So a coalition to “save” the nation (or the bondholders new and future). FG/FF/Labour and a major move to coopt part of the remaining opposition. Sf members should try and get a lock against this at their next Ard Fheis. There wll be similar agruments to those in Labour. Doing it to prevent the poor being targetted etc.
ULA as of now are to weak to provide a national opposition.
