DON VAN VLIET: 1941-2010
Dec 18th, 2010 by Conor McCabe
Who would guess that a thing so magical
Could be so discomfited?
The stars come out like sprinkled sand
Disputing which could shine the brightest,
And the lamps lit by the servants
With a dusky glow like tortoiseshell
This night spat flames like long rainbows
Shooting from the houses through holes and cracks
into a thousand roads. (Lu T’ung, The Eclipse of the Moon, c.810 AD)

hey guys we did a thing - couldn’t think of what track to do as tribute so we chose the saddest one we know

Ta for the vid Conor…can hear pretty clearly how the blues was down there somewhere under it all…. thanks to the Brits’ licence fee money and John Peel that I ever heard of him in the first place…
Alan - Prince for a Captain - good one… youse were right not to do a Captain B cover - I don’t think it’s actually possible to cover any of their stuff - a true original….
I still remember when you listened to Trout Mask Replica solidly for a week or more, Conor. I never did myself, but was always wondering where ‘fat n’ bulbous’ came into it.
Nice one Alan, good tribute. Lauren has a great voice.
Isn’t it ‘fast and bulbous’?
without the ’s’ you’re thinking of Mary Harney again - a very bad habit to be getting into…
