DAY OF PROTEST, WEDNESDAY 29 SEPTEMBER 2010, DAIL EIREANN
Sep 28th, 2010 by Conor McCabe
Protest on the first day of the re-opening of the Dáil as part of the September 29th, European Day of Action called by the European Trade Union Confederation.
The 29th September marks an international day of protest that has been called by the European Trade Union Confederation against the policies being pursued by across the continent making working people and the unemployed and anybody who depends on public services pay for the economic crisis. The day will be marked by a general strike in Spain and mass demonstrations organised by the trade union movement in the rest of Europe.

Was at the protest. Not impressed with one group that tried to shout down one of the platform speakers. Brilliantly adding to the effectiveness of the protest. Not.
I couldn’t make it up to dublin for it. Who was shouted down and by whom?
It wouldn’t have been the group whose acronym comprises the letters P, W & S?
The more bizarre incident, to me anyway, was immediately after the ICTU speeches ended. Both Kieran Allen and Joe Higgins started speaking through microphones simultaneously within thirty feet of one another. Indicative of a lack of co-ordination?
