just heard this earlier,gutted, saw him/them in whelans a couple of times and later in the academy,the first whelans gig was a truly magical gig,waltzed to” homecoming queen” ,packed house but you could hear people breath during it,and then moshed to” happy man” It truly is a sad day,listening to first two albums over the last couple of hours, will never see the ghost of his smile again
I only heard a couple of hours ago. It is very sad. A marvellous songwriter and a genuine talent. He will be missed.
More bloody sad news. Beautifully stark track that. I had been meaning to pay tribute to someone else who graced Whelans’s stage and has gone the same way on Stephens Day - Vic Chesnutt.
I suppose here’d be as good a place to do it :

An awful shame, ‘Cow’ on Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot has to be one of my all time favourite songs. Saw Sparklehorse in both Whelans and The Academy and as said above the first Whelans gig was magical.
