Gorillaz | Glitter Freeze feat Mark E. Smith
Mar 4th, 2010 by Donagh

I hate the way ‘broadsheet’ or ‘quality’ papers have started to pimp corporate funded popular music acts that might appeal to their middle-aged readers who still imagine that they’re down with the kids coz they download the albums they read about in their favourite ‘broadsheet’ or ‘quality’ newspapers.
I have absolutely no interest in the new Gorillaz album that these newspapers (Guardian | Irish Times) are ’streaming’.
However, this track features Mark E. Smith, phoning in the vocal (or maybe it was nicked from an out-take track from one of his spoken word albums).

Jaysus, what a pile of cock.
(Mark E. Smith excepted)
I read that Damien Albarn wants to go to Baghdad to make an album. We can only live in hope I suppose.
What a bilious pair of auld gets…
Youse make MES ringing in from that pub toilet sound like Dana…
Don’t mind Gorillaz meself or Albarn - and me kids like ‘em a lot.
They’re certainly a relief when they come on in the middle of all the shite on one of those commercial stations.
Albarn didn’t do a bad job putting Malian music on the map. I’m sure Iraqi musicians would be glad to see him show up - not as if they’re getting too many gigs at the moment - from the G.I.s or the nuts on the other side.
Oh and the track seems to have been ripped off slightly from Glam Racket-era Fall ??
No need for them to do up an avatar for MES neither - with the head on him in that photo. Just add colour
never really a blur fan, I’ve liked most everything albarn has done since - all the gorillaz and spacemonkeys stuff (incl. what I’ve heard of the new cut), saw the good the bad and the queen at electric picnic, saw his monkey magic rock opera at london O2. ok it’s in the middle tier for me but as reassuringly so as the good old guardian
coming to see fall at tripod april 29 then?
Glitter Freeze rules!
