Local people in Erris, Co Mayo, have been involved in a long-term battle to force Shell, the multinational corporation to refine gas offshore instead of their more dangerous plans to refine the raw gas onshore.
Local fifth generation fisherman Pat O’Donnell has been sentenced to 7 months imprisonment on a charge of a ‘breach of the peace’ and for ‘obstructing a Garda’.
He is currently in Castlerea prison in Co. Roscommon, Ireland.
