CASABLANCA MOON: MOUNTAIN DEW MORNING, 1980S
Feb 16th, 2010 by Conor McCabe
Again, no information here except what’s on the cover.
I’m not sure if this is a demo. It kinda has the feel of a cassette E.P.
Anyway, not exactly my type of music, but it is reflective of the type of stuff being produced in Ireland in the 1980s.
A Prayer for Kathleen [4:00m]: Play Now | Play in Popup
December Evening [4:29m]: Play Now | Play in Popup
Discovery [4:00m]: Play Now | Play in Popup

Haha, ah yes!
The only reason I held on to this demo was that one day I knew I’d be able to blackmail the man responsible for it.
Well… Tuesday 16 February is that day and Garrett Lee is that man. Or as he prefers to be known these days: Jacknife Lee. You might be familiar with his work as a producer/remixer: U2, REM, Snow Patrol, Block Party, The Editors etc. Or if your memory goes back that far, remember him playing guitar with the legendary Dublin ‘80s garage punk band Thee Amazing Colossal Men or later with Compulsion.
Basic info: they were a duo and the recording was made in ‘84 with the band never playing live to the best of my knowledge.
Thanks for this Conor and Dave. Have just posted a session track by the band here http://fanningsessions.wordpress.com/2011/03/10/casablanca-moon/ Anyone got a copy of the 1982 fanzine ‘Craw Thumping’?
Haven’t heard of that fanzine before. If you’re around Dublin at all Seomra Spraoi holds the Irish fanzine archive.

When you go in it’s up the stairs.
If Craw Thumping is anywhere it’s there.
