MODUS VIVENDI: 1984 DEMO
Feb 9th, 2010 by Conor McCabe
I know nothing about this band, except that they were based in Dublin c.1984. I don’t know if they played any gigs. The demo comes from a bag of tapes a friend of mine found in his attic. Thanks again Dave for passing them on.
The names on the demo are (I think):
John Lalor
Steve Potter
Andy Skerritt
Luke Doyle*

That looks like ‘Luke Doyle’ to me
Modus Vivendi trivia:
1. They won the Battle of the Bands in Trinity in ‘84
2. They had the largest posters ever seen in Dublin at over 2 metres in length - that’s nearly double A0 size!
3. John Lawlor was later the manager of the City Arts Centre rehersal rooms.
Thanks for the info Dave, and thanks again for the tapes. I’ll have them all back to you next week. Promise!
Pretty sure I had one of their posters on my bedroom wall at one stage (not the supersize one). Had never heard their music until now. Bit of an Echo & The Bunnymen sound on that second song, the bouncy bass line and the cutting guitar, excellent stuff.
Any other lost gems in that bag of tapes?
A few more. Hoping to have them up on the web by the end of next week.
yep…i remember the boys. Rathfarnham’s finest. John, Steve and Luke and was it Andy?? I remember supporting the in The Underground (now a titty bar) in Dame St. many moons ago . Halcyon days indeed.
