Football is such big business now that it's become a culture of what you can get away with; a dirty incident, but hardly outstanding.

The last word - I hope:

Cantona on that match:

What shocked me most wasn’t the handball, honestly. What shocked me most was that at the end of the match, in front of the television cameras, this player went and sat down next to an Irish player to console him, even though he’d screwed them three minutes earlier. If I’d been Irish, he wouldn’t have lasted three seconds.”

And to help the FAI, I've fixed the vid link for a song on an old post of mine that they might consider teaching to the Garda band before the first match to be played in the INSURANCE RIP-OFF Stadium or whatever the eff they'll be calling Lansdowne...

I think it's Argentina in the first game - with a fairly slim chance they'll have Mr. Hand of God himself at the helm (can't see him surviving the World Cup though)

Must bung that wee lass up as my screensaver at work over here in French rugby country - will get me fired a bit faster...
Very strange couple of days since wednesday night - harvesting vast amounts of French contrition...
All the same, what ever happened to our ancient traditions of Gaelic 'fatalisme' ?? : 'We're Irish ! We lose....' and by what ever means necessary... no matter what Roy Keane says about it...
Get re-reading Peig ffs* and you'll all learn how to live with it

* for FIFA's Sake

How rude for a little cailin to behave. Her parents should send her to Céilí Dance lessons, where she would turn out to be comely, light footed und echt keltisch in a green and orange embroidered dancing costume. Keep finger signs out of fussball.
