Cracking stuff which I missed when reading the IT online.
A bigger man wouldn’t have sneered at the knife-sharpeners of Sligo. I still find his missive strangely endearing, like an excerpt from the Myles na Gopaleen-engineered ‘Ibsen wig scandal’ correspondence carried in the Irish Times in the 50s and which fooled Patrick Kavanagh, among others.
