LET EVENING BRING THEM HOME: THE STORY OF THE JUBILEE ALLSTARS
Apr 22nd, 2009 by Conor McCabe
We’ve been running our Great Irish Bands posts for about two years now, and today marks an expansion in the series. Below is a documentary/podcast on the Jubilee Allstars, one of the best bands of the 1990s. It’s based around a set of interviews held with three of the former members - Barry McCormack, Niall McCormack, and Lee Casey - and these are interspersed with songs from the Jubilee’s three albums and various E.P.s and singles. The documentary is one hour long, and the file is 55.6MB. You can download it by right-clicking on the player and selecting “save target as” or “save link as”.
Further information on the band can be found here, while those interested in obtaining any (or all) of the band’s records and cds can go here.
Barry McCormack has released a couple of solo albums. His MySpace page is here.
Enjoy.

Great band. Saw them a couple of times in the 90s when everyone else here already knew about them, then saw Barry perform in Whelans a couple of times. Loved the “Rowing Boat Song.” I see he’s over in Chicago with the Handsome Family. Lucky bloke.
This is absolutely wonderful. Well worth waiting for. Thanks Conor. It’s great to hear these songs again but also to find out from the band themselves how they were put together.
Cheers Donagh. It was fun putting it together.
Great podcast Conor, I used play sax with Jubilee back in the early days brought back a lot of great memories and the Charlys gig
Thanks very much Jack. Much appreciated. Is that you on “Everybody’s Clown”? Sorry I didn’t get around to you for the documentary. I’m glad you liked it. and were you on stage for the Charley’s gig?!! Was it really like “Dig”? My God!
Yeah that was my noise alright on everybodys clown, did one other song too that was unreleased. I was a small part of the whole thing but it was hugely enjoyable
Charly’s gig, I was on stage but as far as I remember I’m not sure any songs were actually played. Was quite young at the time so was pretty bemused at how the whole thing played out

Hey Conor, that was great thanks, hope you’re doing well, Eileen.
Thanks very much Eileen. I’m hoping to work my way through most of the bands in the series. so hopefully in a couple of years there should be a bit of an archive of them. Here’s hoping anyway. cheers.
