EDDIE HOBBS DRINKS YOUR MILKSHAKE
Mar 19th, 2009 by Conor McCabe
This leaflet came through my letter-box today. It was waiting for me when I got home this evening. It’s from some shower called Northern Cross who are trying to flog-off one-bed apartments on the “Malahide Road” for €200,000. And who have they got to show us that these apartments are a good buy? Well, none other than Eddie Hobbs, that colossus of finance. Funny, only nine months into a recession but looks like Eddie thinks it’s time to buy again. And to buy apartments as well.
In Ireland.
Apartments.
As an investment.
As a home to raise your children.
In case you can’t make it to the special talk from “no-nonsense” Eddie about buying “no-nonsense” apartments, here’s a clip of Eddie from his 30 Things to Do With Your SSIA about buying investment properties. Eddie spends a large part of the clip telling people that they’d be “nuttz” to invest in property if they are new to the game. However, “now here’s the good news” (3.31 on the clip), “You can still invest in property through a whole plethora of property funds that have become available in recent years.” Good on yeah Eddie, two years ago we should have invested in the property game through responsible property funds, a bit like, oh, I dunno, Brendan Investments? Of which Eddie Hobbs is a non-executive director? That was the good news. Invest in property with the experts. In 2006.
What does it intend doing indeed.
As the Wire’s Senator Clayton “Clay” Davis might say, “Sheeeeeeeeeeet”.
Enjoy.

I discovered at lunchtime that the latest turd curled out by this revolting gargoyle is titled Debt Busters - Managing Your Way Through The Recession.
I love his advice in 2006 to an audience of SSIAs about “gearing” - instead of buying one property with your own money, borrow as much as you can from the banks to buy as many properties as you can, and failing that, invest in property via the stock market - punctured all the time, of course, with his “dis iz nutttz” clause.
I suppose giving nutty advice is ok when you tell people that it may be nutty so watch out. And giving out nutty advice when you KNOW it to be nutty advice is what makes you a “no-nonsense” adviser.
You are foolishly prejudging Hobbs without any evidence other than he is speaking at an event. Moreover you have also defamed him. That’s pretty stupid and reckless. I suggest you edit if the site owner wishes to avoid litigation.
Yeah, silly me for thinking that there’s a conflict of interest between the people’s property champion and this:
http://www.brendaninvestments.ie/about/
and this is what Shane Ross had to say about that in the biggest-selling newspaper on the island.
http://www.independent.ie/business/irish/eddie-hobbs-hits-homer-1116964.html
It’s kinda endearing that you think a post on Dublin Opinion carries more weight than Shane Ross. Indeed, that it carries any weight at all. Ahhh bless.
Oh, and I love the anonymous nature of your comment, litigator, it really behoves you, all that scary libel stuff.
Well, seems as you like to raise bogeymen, is this yours as well?
Well done Sir
Looks like another piece of rubbish from Ross. Where is the follow up, the evidence? Brendan Invts invested in Germany if I recall but Ross choses Irish property to make his case, quite stupid. He also pushed Irish Bank shares then turns up at the AGMs after losing his and his readers shirts not smart enough to see that Irish bank shares were a proxy for overblown Irish property. Hobbs has been consistent about Irish property and differentiated it from Germany I thought, but lets not get in the way of a good piece of jounalism from the hedge fund chairman, a person who makes money from CFDs then attacks their use on the ISEQ, but still stays in bank shares. If you think Ross has any talent for investment God help you!
Haha! Litigator. what an asshole! First you come on wanking yourself silly about libel, then you come back with a piece which slags off Ross. you haven’t really given this much thought, have you? I mean, is there an actual coherent point behind your anonymous drool?
Plenty of thought including the fact that I’m communicating with a juvenile and not worth further energy so adieu. But before I go let me try to help you ; Some day, my friend, you will pay a heavy price for what you believe to be a harmless prank, but websites like this provide unrestricted broadcast to fools who think they’re protected, see earlier posts. You continue to allow people to defame, denigrate and deride others on your site and it is only a matter of time before you will pay the piper. Laugh all you like but behind the laugh you know, if you’ve a brain cell, that you’re playing a high risk game. A litigator would have you for breakfast if someone felt inclined to bother with your drivel.
oooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Thanks for the advice. and you keep buying those Eddie Hobbs books. They seem to be about your level of analysis and intellect.
By the way, why are you bothering with my drivel? do you not think it’s a bit, well, weird, that you would come onto a blog, make anonymous threats of litigation, then come back to defend Hobbs while possibly libeling Shane Ross yourself, and then, after all that, say, well, you now, it’s just drivel and I can’t see anyone bothering with it. Well, you did, didn’t you? You dosy fuck. Oh and keep wearing those litigation underpants over your squirrel-sized head, they really behoove you.
