Bad news indeed, although I've stopped shopping there simply because I rarely get into town these day. And you're right too about seeing Dave and Julie at the good gigs, although its been a good long while since that has happened. But never mind that now Jim, tell me this: did you fall in the water?

This sucks. Road Recs has always been great for music, info, and tickets. Damn, this takes all the fun out of strolling into town. Dave and Julie rock - you always knew you were at a good gig when you saw them hanging out down the back. God, this is awful news.

I'm really, really gutted by this. I always bought my local music there. In fact I was only in there a few days ago (picking up the new Funeral Suits EP, and I got the Hey Paulette collection while I was at it). Really a terrible loss. RIP.

There's a slight inaccuracy in the Hot Press piece, as they were definitely there before I went to France - which is more than 8 years ago. Afraid I didn't buy many records in there - mainly due to their opening coiinciding with that 'disposable income-free black hole' that comes with having kids. Always liked browsing in there and seeing great stuff I could no longer afford (they were definitely the best stocked indie outlet in the city).
Yet more bad news - and yet another human scale local outlet gone from the city centre.
Hope the couple running Road find some other way to make a living quick sharp doing something they love as much.
Mebbe re-name themselves 'Road Records Investment Bank' and join the queue for one of those bail-outs :-[
