Wait a minute, this is about football? I thought it was a home movie of that fella who became well known after his picture was used for a Wedding Present album cover kicking a ball around his back garden.

Read the whole sentence Jim - 'Bernabeu corporate hell.... in the more recent past'. Both stadia are in the same antechamber of corporate hell these days of course..
The Best film is from 1970 - at which point the whole Premiershit juggernaut hadn't yet got going. I reckon almost ordinary people could've still been going to the matches.
Mind you - I see there's a big 'SHELL' hoarding just above his head in the above freeze-frame :->
Donagh'll not notice it's not about Arthouse cinema until well after Chrimbo, touch wood...

This must be where they got the idea for the Zidane film, which, coincidentally, I was watching during the week.

The chasm in fitness levels is striking, for sure, but I wonder perhaps was Coventry a whipping boy team back then and this an 'easy' game for Those Bastards? It does look like a training ground stroll.

In any case, in both films the main guy seems to drift around doing nothing very much until seeming to wake up and and burst into action for a game-changing moment. Amazing really, and something I'd noticed in watching the Zidane film - you'd learn nothing about how to play football from watching these atypical players. Some people are above the rules and norms.

Bernabeu 'corporate hell' as opposed to what? The cosy community-oriented cottage industy of Old Trafford where everyone knows your name? Give me a break Sean, your prejudices are showing.
Not that any of it matters; Donagh will delete the whole thing once he realises it's about football...
