Pop in Your Comfort Zone

People spend a lot of time poking around for the edgy new underground thing, convinced that plain old pop songs have been done to death. But Vampire Weekend come along like Belle & Sebastian and the Strokes each did, sounding refreshingly laidback and uncomplicated, and with simple set-ups that make good songs sound exceedingly easy.
Yep, that sounds about right.
Of course, now I can’t stand Belle & Sebastian or the Strokes, and no doubt I will soon hate Vampire Weekend too.
But it ain’t the weekend yet, Donagh….
and none of us are vampires… at least not last time I checked…
Naw, seriously, was hearing this one all the summer on that French radio station I posted on a while back (Nova). Went pretty well with driving around sunny Agen in 45 degree heat (cos the front windows of the car won’t open any more).
They even manage to throw a line from ‘Dark Eyed Sailor’ in there alongside everything else going on. Jaysus feckin’ Christy…

Ah, I don’t listen to the radio these days, so they could have been on heavy rotation for months and I wouldn’t have noticed.
