NONE of Foreign Minister Micheal Martin’s EU counterparts blame the Government for the crisis caused by the ‘No’ vote on the Lisbon Treaty, he said yesterday.”
As Ciarán Fitzgerald famously said, “where’s your fucking pride?”
So the EU doesn’t blame Micheál Martin. That’s the big message he brought back from Europe. Well, that’s what matters, I suppose. Forget about the mandate to reject the Lisbon treaty, Martin’s not the one who’s going to get pulled up in front of the headmaster.
Really, there’s more backbone and integrity in a sponge.
Anyway, here’s Dexy’s Midnight Runners showing a little bit of pride in Ireland way back in the 1980s, when such a thing was rare on the ground, and not the most comfortable of things to shout about in England.
