You get the feeling that people are going to say, ah sure everyone knows that. But even if everyone does know, its still bloody annoying, especially when the notion of Bertie the victim is trotted out. Yea, you can imagine their faces when they're sitting at the bar stirring their mint julup in excited anticipation and PJ Mara turns up. But you're absolutely right. It's fairly stunning how this aura of victimhood began to develop - or rather was created and perpetuated. Most annoyingly is this idea of complicity that you point up.
