BERTIE IS BILLY NO MATES
Mar 26th, 2008 by Conor McCabe
One week after Grainne Carruth´s devastating testimony to the Mahon Tribunal - testimony which has left the Taoiseach’s defense of his financial “irregularities” in tatters - not one senior cabinet minister has come out publicly to support him.
This is what Minister for Education, Mary Hanafin, had to say on the matter yesterday:
I’m only dealing with education issues today. Genuinely, I’m only dealing with education issues today and tomorrow… I’ve enough on my plate now with three conferences today, this evening and tomorrow on education. I think that is my major priority.”
Brian Cowen has yet to say anything in support of his boss, save letting it be known that he will not be releasing a statement on the matter, despite earlier reports. The same goes for Mary Coughlan, Séamus Brennan, Eamon Ryan, Éamon Ó Cuív, Willie O Dea, Micheál Martin, John Gormley, Dermot Ahern, Mary Harney, Brian Lenihan Jnr, Martin Cullen, and Noel Dempsey.
I think that’s terrible.
Anyway, here´s a song for Bertie, as chosen by his cabinet.
Enjoy.
