Daddy, Why Are You Working So Hard?
Feb 20th, 2008 by Donagh
When it comes to informing the majority of working adults about where their real interests lie in our new neo-liberal society there is a wall of resistance that must be overcome. Its just too hard for some people to understand.
So when we argue, as we have, that the idea that almost everyone in Ireland is middle class now is propagated by those who control society in order to make them feel less like workers in the old sense and more like consumers people have a tendency to go, la-la-la, we’re not listening.
But really, it’s not that hard to understand. In fact its kids stuff.
Apologies to anyone who has already seen this on Crooked Timber or elsewhere.
After having my cosy neo-liberalist supposedly middle-class worldview rocked to its very core by the revelations in this educational video, I clicked into the website of the guys who produced it to be greeted with this text:
“We are happy that you are visiting us. Please browse in our shop with its many interesting products…”
Must. Buy. Stuff.
I´ve just gone to their website and I cannot see anything for sale. I can see a link for a donation, hardly rampant capitalism, though. Is that what you mean, the donate sign?

The original post for the video is here:

Hmmm. OK, I’ve figured out what I did wrong and it’s too tedious to explain. Combination of a mistyped link and a dodgy laptop.
Never mind, I’m back on track now…
Mind you, if they DID have t-shirts for sale, I´d probably buy one!
