GREAT IRISH BANDS, PART 17: A HOUSE

If I hadn’t gone too far
If I didn’t want to much
If I hadn’t pushed too hard
Things could have been different for me. (Why Me?)
I remember meeting my friends and catching a DART at Kilbarrack station one November evening in 1989. We were on our way to an A House gig, and somebody said, “I wonder if it’s sold out?” I answered: “A House will never sell out.”
It’s almost sinful to bring such a short post to cover such a great band. No matter. There’s a fan site here, while their Wikipedia entry is available here. Finally, their myspace is here.
Anyway, I’ve gone with “call Me Blue” and “Endless Art” as I couldn’t decide between them.
Enjoy.

Not to be too emotional about it but I remember the night of their last gig in the Olympia and people genuinely didn’t want to leave. The band had run into a cul-de-sac but I had gotten used to seeing the same faces at gigs from McGonagles, to the Mansion House (thier finest our), and finally to the Olympia so it wasn’t easy to let them go. Still, I’ll always be grateful.
Don’t forget Dave Couse has released 2 pretty damn good records since then too www.davecouse.com…
I was one of those who didn’t want to leave btw, and amongst those who were bawling their eyes out too
