Writing Out Errors of Circumlocution
Jan 11th, 2007 by Donagh
I’ve noticed recently that I tend to repeat certain words in posts. It’s very annoying but I usually never bother to go back to fix the problem mainly because I’m too lazy to think of an alternative.
In one recent post I had a fondness for the word ‘circumlocutory’, using it twice unnecessarily.
Why?
Anyway, I know it jars when you read back over it, so I wasn’t surprised to find out that it’s number one in the list of “10 COMMON PROBLEMS THAT DISMISS YOU AS AN AMATEUR (writer).”
